A developer plans to break ground in late March on a Hampton Inn along Des Moines’ downtown riverfront following Monday’s final approval of the project by the City Council.

Burlington hotel developer Ravi Patel proposed building a four-story hotel on the riverfront in downtown Des Moines more than a year ago. Since then, the project has evolved to include two hotels and a parking ramp.
